Introduction to Thomas Aquinas

This course will seek to provide an introduction to the thought of Thomas Aquinas, so that the student will be able to read and study the works of Aquinas for themselves and interact with the different schools of Thomistic thought. This will be done in such a way as to bring the thought of Aquinas into interaction with some prominent strands of Reformed theology and Contemporary philosophy, and will emphasize that Aquinas should be seen as a resource for Protestants, and indeed a key source for Protestant theology, rather than merely the quasi-official theologian of the Roman Catholic Church. Taught by David Haines. Runs 9/30-12/13/19.
