Dr. Matthew Hoskin

Phd, university of Edinburgh

Dr Matthew Hoskin (PhD, University of Edinburgh) teaches ancient and medieval Christian history for Davenant Hall. His research focusses on manuscripts, monks, popes, canon law, and councils, which all feature in his book The Manuscripts of Leo the Great’s Letters (2022), and he blogs about the historic faith at Classically Christian. He lives on Superior’s northern shore in Thunder Bay, Ontario, with his wife and sons.

Dr. Tim Jacobs

PhD, University of St. Thomas, TX

Tim L. Jacobs is Chief Administrative Officer and Professor of Philosophy at Davenant Hall. He is co-author of Four Views on Christian Metaphysics, Lexham Bible Dictionary, and The Jonathan Edwards Encyclopedia. His articles have appeared in Credo Magazine, Ad Fontes, Lex Naturalis, and others. He holds an M.Div. and Th.M. from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and a PhD in philosophy from the University of St. Thomas, Houston. Dr. Michael Lynch

PhD, Calvin SeminarY

Dr. Michael Lynch teaches Ancient Language and Humanities at Delaware Valley Classical School in New Castle, DE. He is the author of John Davenant’s Hypothetical Universalism: A Defense of Catholic and Reformed Orthodoxy (Oxford University Press, 2021) and has translated John Davenant’s On the Death of Christ & Other Atonement Writings (Davenant Press, 2024). He and his wife have five children, three girls and two boys.

Dr. Joseph Minich

PhD, The University of Texas at Dallas

Dr. Joseph Minich is Faculty Chair of Davenant Hall. The founding editor of Ad Fontes and former Editor-in-Chief of the Davenant Press, he is the author of Enduring Divine Absence (Davenant Press, 2018) and Bulwarks of Unbelief: Atheism and Divine Absence in a Secular Age (Lexham Press, 2023). His public writing can be found at The Calvinist International, Mere Orthodoxy, Modern Reformation, and Ad Fontes.

Dr. Alastair Roberts

PhD, University of Durham

Dr. Alastair Roberts is a Teaching Fellow of The Theopolis Institute and professor for Davenant Hall, a leading evangelical blogger and writer, and one of the hosts of the Mere Fidelity podcast. His personal podcast is Alastair’s Adversaria, where, alongside topical interviews, he currently produces daily reflections upon the whole Bible. He is the author of Echoes of Exodus: Tracing Themes of Redemption Through Scripture (2018). He is married to Susannah, and they divide their time between the UK and the US.

Dr. Grant Sutherland

Ph.D, Australian Catholic University

Grant M. Sutherland is a theologian whose primary area of research is Trinitarian theology, specifically within the early Christian and early medieval periods. His work also explores the intersection of philosophy and theology, Scripture, and Christology. He lives in British Columbia, Canada, with his wife and their five children.

Charles Carman

Charles Carman is an alumnus of The King’s College in New York City. He holds an MA in theology from New St Andrews College where he studied Latin, Greek, and Hebrew, and is writing his dissertation at The Catholic University of America on the Syriac theologian, Narsai. He lives in DC with his lovely wife and children. 

Dr. Anthony Cirilla

Associate Professor, College of the Ozarks

Dr. Anthony Cirilla is an Associate Professor of English at College of the Ozarks. He is also associate editor of Carmina Philosophiae, the journal of the International Boethius Society. Originally from Western New York, he lives in Missouri with his wife, Camarie, who writes poetry and fairy tales. Anthony serves as an ordained deacon at St. Joseph Anglican Church in Branson.

Christian Finnigan

JD, Antonin Scalia Law School, George Mason University; PhD Candidate, McGill University

Christian D. Finnigan is Associate Professor and Chair of Politics, Philosophy, and History at Cairn University. He is also a Senior Fellow at The John Jay Institute. 

Finnigan previously served as an assistant professor of history and politics at Colorado Christian University, adjunct professor of government at Patrick Henry College, an instructor in history at Sacred Heart University, and a teaching fellow in history at Yale University. He has also been a fellow at the Centennial Institute and an Emo F.J. Van Halsema Fellow at the H. Henry Meeter Center for Calvin Studies at Calvin University.

His academic work includes a chapter he recently contributed to From Generation to Generation: Writings in Honour of Douglas F. Kelly (Mentor, 2023), and papers presented at conferences such as the Sixteenth Century Studies Society, the Society for Reformation Studies, and the Southern Political Science Association.

Finnigan holds a BA in religious studies from Randolph-Macon College, an MA in the history of political thought and intellectual history from University College London, an MLitt in Reformation studies from the University of St Andrews, an MDiv from Reformed Theological Seminary, a ThM in historical theology from Erskine Theological Seminary, and a JD with a concentration in homeland and national security law from the Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason University. He is currently a PhD candidate at McGill University, where his dissertation explores the political thought of the Protestant reformer Martin Bucer.

Dr. Wyatt Graham

Ph.D, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary

Dr. David Haines

David Haines (PhD, Université Laval), is Assistant Professor of Philosophy and Theology at Bethlehem College & Seminary, Associate Professor of Philosophy and Religion at VIU, a Visiting Fellow at Davenant Hall, and a lecturer in philosophy at Université de Sherbrooke. He has previously authored Richard Hooker on Natural Theology and Scripture, Natural Theology: A Biblical and Historical Introduction and Defense, co-authored Natural Law: A Brief Introduction and Biblical Defense, and edited Without Excuse: Scripture, Reason, and Presuppositional Apologetics, all with The Davenant Press. 

Nathan Johnson

Phd Candidate, Faulkner University, AL

Nathan Johnson is Assistant Dean of Academics, Head of Program, and Teaching Fellow at New College Franklin. He also holds two M.A. degrees in Biblical Studies and Theological Studies from Reformed Theological Seminary and an M.A. in Liberal Arts from St. John’s College.. He and his wife, Hannah, live in Franklin, TN with their son, two vivacious golden retrievers, and too many books.

Dr. Brad Littlejohn

PhD, University of Edinburgh

Brad Littlejohn is a Fellow of the Ethics and Public Policy Center. He founded and served for ten years as the President of the Davenant Institute after found it in 2013, and founded Davenant Hall in 2019. Brad regularly teaches core modules on Natural Law and Scriptural Authority and Reformation and the Modern World, and elective classes in Reformation history and Christian ethics. His publications include The Peril and Promise of Christian Liberty: Richard Hooker, the Puritans, and Protestant Political Theology (Eerdmans, 2017), The Two Kingdoms: A Guide for the Perplexed (Davenant Press, 2017), Called to Freedom: Retrieving Christian Liberty in an Age of Licence (B&H, forthcoming 2025), and an ongoing moderinization project of Richard Hooker’s Laws of Ecclesiastical Polity (Davenant Press).

Dr. Graham Shearer

Ph.D, Union Theological College

Graham Shearer a lecturer in Theology at Davenant Hall. He is also lecturer Theology at Union Theological College in Belfast, Ireland. His theological studies culminated in his doctoral thesis, focused on the doctrine of eternal generation and its reception in the Reformed tradition. In addition to his academic roles, Dr. Shearer is Assistant Minister at Lowe Memorial Presbyterian Church in Finaghy, Ireland. He lives just outside Belfast with his wife, Katherine, and three children.
