The Scriptures can often seem strange and forbidding, even for Christians who are committed to their truth and authority. Yet, with the guidance of the Scriptures themselves, a vast array of faithful voices from the tradition, gifted contemporary Christian readers, and expert scholars, texts that were once closed to us can be opened up. This introductory course, which requires no knowledge of biblical languages, will train students in some essential skills for Scripture readers, equipping them to read the Scriptures on a deeper level. To which the Ethiopian Eunuch replied, “How can I, unless someone guides me?” The Scriptures can often seem strange and forbidding, even for Christians who are committed to their truth and authority. Yet, with the guidance of the Scriptures themselves, a vast array of faithful voices from the tradition, gifted contemporary Christian readers, and expert scholars, texts that were once closed to us can be opened up. This introductory course, which requires no knowledge of biblical languages, will train students in some essential skills for Scripture readers, equipping them to read the Scriptures on a deeper level.

Online only, runs 10 weeks, meeting 1 hr./wk. via videoconference. Students will also have the option to participate in a class discussion board. Register to reserve your spot and schedule will be set after a poll of participating students; if the class time does not fit your schedule, you will be eligible for a full refund. Note: all classes are offered dependent on demand and require a minimum of four participating students.
