Baptism is a rite of Christian initiation, of faith, and of unity, yet has been the cause of much controversy regarding its meaning, efficacy, mode, and proper subjects. Consideration of Baptism also propels us into a diverse selection of biblical, theological, historical, practical, liturgical, and even philosophical lines of enquiry. This course will be an expansive investigation of Baptism and its controverted aspects, considering it from many different vantage points and integrating these into a fuller account of the sacrament.
